Overpriced Train Tickets Richard, Think I’ll Try Car Hire Thanks

'sorry no first class ticket, kate'

So the elusive weekend is rapidly approaching, I won’t lie I am very excited to going away. Although I have to have a little rant about the train prices, we booked our tickets to Liverpool from London a week ago and the prices were absolutely ridiculous! I do think next time it might be cheaper for us to drive with a car hire.

My other half and I do not own a car in London because its so expensive and unnecessary but as train prices are ever on the increase I am wondering if its worth just looking into car hire for the weekend, probably be a similar price!

Is Car Hire The Solution?

Written by Letitia on January 8, 2010 – 10:53 am -

morning Letitia, cigar?

Now I am not one to moan, ha! But I am pretty fed up with the trains at the moment (just for a change). Trains seem to be the bane of my life, always on there. I probably spend about forty per cent of my waking life sitting on tubes in a red light or waiting in the cold at the station for a train to arrive. Only to be informed that it has been cancelled. The train staff seem to be a bit like a parent that doesn’t want to break bad news to you, so they withhold the bad news for as long as possible. Well I don’t want to be mollycoddled, if the train was cancelled in Stratford an hour ago, let me know yeah? Because then I can make an informed decision about how to get home. At this rate I am definitely considering car hire, with maybe a chauffeur. I would love to sit in the back of a car, with my morning tea reading a paper with Jeeves, my fictional chauffeur. Who would look a bit like Stephen Fry in Jeeves and Wooster, and be very terribly English. I think car hire is clearly the solution because I have just looked at the news and apparently our old friend Boris Johnston has also put up the prices of the tube. So that’s £1.20 for a single journey through London on Oyster, how reasonable.
