As If I Didn’t Have Enough To Think About, Wedding Venues Too…

Written by Letitia on December 16, 2009 – 1:03 pm -

wedding

Had a busy start to the week this week, mainly beginning with my friend announcing that she wanted to marry her fella. Which was fantastic news,  we decided that once he said yes we would help her start to plan everything (he said yes!). However,  she is one of those girls that once she has her mind set on something it all has to happen straight away. So I have been given the official title of wedding planner and yesterday I started been looking over glamorous wedding venues in London. She wants something really unusual (and expensive!) yet traditional so I have been looking up all sorts of fantastic locations for them to share their special day.

Baby Names Are For Life, Not Just For Christmas

Written by Letitia on December 15, 2009 – 11:41 am -

ET-heart-glowI have a real bug bear at the moment, bloody celebrity baby names. I cannot believe some of the ridiculous names that I have heard recently- do these famous parents honestly believe they aren’t going to affect them later on? You know, when they have to pay the therapist’s bill when their child has committed social suicide at school. If you really wanted to call your precious little bundle of joy ‘Sparrow’-why not just make it a nickname? Not an actual real name.

Having said that will be interesting to see when little Apple, Sage Moonblood, Moon Unit and Diva Muffin all start school. I just think it’s bordering on cruel; I mean I understand we all take a little bit of stick when we are younger, but Moon Unit? That is clearly asking for trouble. It is bad enough that modern popular names sound hideous, there is going to be a whole generation of Chanel’s, Denim’s, Brooklyn’s, Shakira’s and Morpheus…

Photo Books For Christmas!

Written by Letitia on December 11, 2009 – 2:57 pm -

christmas-presentChristmas is really close and I have been panicking what to get my boyfriend, I really want to get him something special as each year some presents just get forgotten really quickly. This year however I have decided that I am going to create some photo books for my nearest and dearest. Photo books are excellent gifts; you can choose all of your favourite images and collect them together. These make such personal gifts and I love going through my photos and reliving many memories.

Photo books are fantastic because they are so easy and quick to make, you can usually upload your images online and then select the options you want. This year I have made books for my family, my boyfriend and best friend and all at a really cheap cost! I have even managed to change my photos into black and white pieces of art!

Avoid A Cringe Christmas Do, Entertain Your Corporate Events!

Written by Letitia on December 8, 2009 – 9:48 am -

Office-Christmas-party-001As the Christmas season approaches after what has felt like a long year, Christmas corporate events will undoubtedly happening across the country. Christmas work events are always a mixed bag in my opinion; they have the potential to go rather wrong. By being more creative than the usual ‘free bar lets drink all we can’ approach the cliché faux pas that occurs at the Christmas do can be avoided.

There are so many different ideas that can be incorporated into your Christmas party that will ensure that it is both memorable and entertaining. From magicians through to ice sculptures the extra effort never goes unnoticed and will make your party a huge success. I am looking forward to seeing what corporate events I will be invited to this year and know that the quirkiest and most unusual will be completely memorable.

Dog Flu.

Written by Letitia on December 7, 2009 – 4:27 pm -

sickdogGosh if the bloody swine flu wasn’t bad enough, my miniature dachshund has come home sneezing this week. Not just the usual sneezes expected in December either, he is really poorly. I found him lying on the sofa at home and was really feeling sorry for himself. You always know a dog is poorly when they don’t want free food or are not interested in playing. Well Horace was not wanting either and we were a little concerned for him as he sat there repetitively sneezing.

After a long wait at the vets and a lot of lube up poor Horace’s nostril, the little furry creature was sent home diagnosed with wait for it, ‘sneezing virus’. Great. So the dog’s have it too, poor little mite is sat in his basket looking very poorly. We didn’t need tamiflu for this one though, just some pink antibiotics we have to lure him to with hummus. He isn’t complaining too much though and apparently he will be fine in a week…

Paying Back The Student Guarantor Loan…

Written by Letitia on December 3, 2009 – 3:07 pm -

student_loanTaking out loans is something we all don’t really enjoy, but is a part of life unfortunately. Like many people my age I am still paying off my student loan (which I managed to spend so quickly!) when I applied for my student guarantor loan my mum had to sign it to ensure that if I was unable to make the payments she would. That is something I dread to think about. I would be seriously gutted if it was left to my mum to pay the loan…I already have borrowed a fair amount from bank of mum and dad and to be honest I think the honey pot is empty now!

However I am just happy I never did a medical degree as my poor medical student friends are in huge amounts of debt and having to work their socks off! I don’t know, call me an idealist but I cannot help but feel that education should be free, in Sweden it is so why not here? Why should education cost us all thousands? I shall probably end up paying for many more years to come!

Champagne For My Real Friends, Real Pain For My Sham Friends

Written by Letitia on December 2, 2009 – 12:32 pm -

dom_perignon_93If there is one thing I have developed a taste for recently, it has to be champagne. When I was younger I never really understood the appeal, it tasted fizzy, bitter and I really did not understand why people wanted to drink it. However, recently has been a different story, since a trip to Paris, hello Mr. C. Hampagne where have you been all my life? Maybe I was drinking the wrong type? Brut? Sec? I now love them both.

With cheese, in a cocktail I don’t mind as long as it has a cork in it! I am not sure where this new found love has stemmed from, but judging by the giant bowl in my parent’s kitchen full of champagne corks, I am clearly not the only one. I like to collect the corks now, for good luck. They decorate a large part of my kitchen, highlighting my new love affair. I have a favorite haunt in London, in Notting Hill known as the Beach Blanket Babylon, order a Long Summers Day, my recommended champagne cocktail, trust me on this one!

Back Pain? See An Osteopath.

Written by Letitia on November 26, 2009 – 11:09 am -

osteopath2u_27So for the last couple of weeks I have been suffering with back pain, unhappy about the amount of pain killers I had been given by my GP I decided to see an osteopath. To be honest I was slightly nervous, but seeing that the NHS had run out of ideas I was willing to try another form of healthcare. Finding a local osteopath in London was really easy and I booked an appointment straight away. So the friendly osteopath told me straight away that back pain is common as a modern ailment due to the fact we are all desk bound in the office and not told how to sit correctly with our posture. The osteopath told me how they were trained to release the tension that is built up in muscles, joints, nerves and ligaments. Oh and that I should exercise more, everyday for twenty minutes…oh just like the doctors.

Dear London Transport…

Written by Letitia on November 25, 2009 – 11:30 am -

underground-sign_1I know that recently Boris Johnston has been hailed as a bit of a hero for helping a lady when a group of thugs went for her-I did think that was a fantastic story. Now don’t get me wrong, I haven’t got anything against the guy…I have never been swallowed up by a bendy bus or paid the congestion charge…however I do have to deal with the tedious journey that is the tube every morning. Every morning at whatever god awful time I have to try and act awake for, I am left gnashing my teeth once I enter the tube. Every day there seems to be another slightly odd person in the carriage, which is fine, I have no issue with slightly odd people, what I do care about is that they practically have to sit on my lap.

Hooray For The Mini!

Written by Letitia on November 20, 2009 – 3:27 pm -

black_miniHave been looking at cars this week in a decision to find a new one and the car that I am drawn to the most has to be without doubt the Mini Cooper. Really like how modern it looks and although I loved the older, smaller models I can’t help but feel that the new Mini has had to adapt for safety. The older ones, as great as they are like driving a go kart!

The Mini was a two-door British car that was first built in 1959; the style was inspired heavily by the fuel shortage that occurred in Britain at the time. Originally the Mini was produced by the British Motor Corporation, but is now produced by BMW.

The 2009 Mini Cooper is quite a speedy character and can go from an impressive 0-60mph in 6.7 seconds-I cannot wait to get one! Watch this space…what colour will I choose? Am thinking blue and white or black with orange interior…
