Won’t See Me Looking For Wedding Venues Just Yet

Today when I woke up and checked Twitter I was faced with a conversation that my friend was having, her status was ‘I am looking for wedding venues-hope my boyfriend takes the hint!’ followed by ‘I really HOPE I get married like all my friends!’

Wow, words literally failed me. I went to school with this girl when she was more interested in Barbie dolls and thought boys were silly. Maybe it’s just me but I really don’t understand this big rush to act grown up and get married as soon as possible. Of course, one day I want to be married but I definitely do not see why there is such a big race up the aisle.

There are many things I dislike about winter; I mean obviously I like the whole Christmas bit when there pretty fairy lights strung up and roaring fireplaces. That’s great I can’t get enough of that -for about a week and then I am ready for the summer to begin again. I am so bored of waking up to grey London. Also my pale skin is also fed up of being dried out by the office air conditioner. Bring on the sunshine, baby rabbits, lambs and butterflies!

There is hope though, because yesterday I saw some snow drops in my mum’s garden and when I get up each day its not as dark as it usually is! Oh how I am longing for a hot summers day when I can go for a walk by the river and sit on the bank with the sun in my face. Having said all that, I will probably moan in the summer too, when I want the cool air conditioner in the office back on. Can’t win!

I have been trying to tidy my flat this weekend, managed to throw out loads of clutter. I watched a programme on Lindsay Lohan being a celebrity hoarder and realised that my wardrobe was going the same way, okay , so I didn’t have quite as many clothes-but it was getting out of hand. When my boyfriend found he couldn’t even fit a jacket in our wardrobe I thought it may be time to clear some of the mess out.

My friend back in Suffolk swears by using storage in Ipswich to sort all of her clothes. She tells her boyfriend that she has cleared out all the clothes she doesn’t wear any more and if we’re honest here the ones that don’t fit her. Except she doesn’t clear them out at all-she drives all the way to storage in Ipswich and has them all in this tiny room. Its madness, she then goes out and buys new clothes and her boyfriend supports her because he is ‘proud’ she ‘let go’ of all the other clothes.

My mum’s friend owns a catering company and recently she has just had a clear out and asked if I wanted any catering equipment. I had visions of giant pots and pans and wasn’t really interested until she brought out some fantastic cocktail glasses. Now if there is one thing I love-that is a good cocktail. Cocktails are wonderful in so many ways but mainly in the way they make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Best cocktail place in London has to be Beach Babylon in Notting Hill; their Long Summers Day cocktail is magnificent. I can hold down about three of those and then I am ready for a tactical glass of water. Another superb cocktail is made in one of my favourite bars in Soho-Freedom, amaretto sour. Mouth-wateringly good but also probably the same calorie intake as a MacDonald’s’ meal. Never mind, I only have them as a rare treat now.

Send Me Packing To The Self Catering Holidays

Cannot stop thinking about holidays today, the weather is so grey outside today it is seriously depressing me (SAD much?). So I am looking at self catering holidays on-line in the hope that I will be able to find a nice little holiday for myself.  Just looking at the pictures is making me happier, blue skies, white sand…maybe some palm trees. Bliss! Actually it’s just like looking at my Microsoft Word, blue background…white page…depresssssssing.

Well I should probably try to make this blog a little more cheery, I mean its pretty much grey across the UK today and I am sure you are feeling just as sad about it. I can’t stand weather when it does nothing, don’t mind rain, don’t mind snow-just dislike it when it is bleak and does nothing. Still, to cheer myself up I have compiled a small list of things I would like for valentines day…feel free to send them to me-

So the year has barely begun and I am already hankering on getting away on a holiday for a few days. Feel like I haven’t seen in the sunshine in years and my pallor exterior is depressing me. Fortunately for me my uncle works in Dubai and has a second home there, which I am planning on adopting as a holiday home. The other half was slightly dubious about going to Dubai, which is essentially just some sand and duty-free perfume- I did highlight that we could just lie in the sun all day like lizards and then spend the evening eating like lions. Suddenly he is up for it. My uncle should think about getting some holiday home insurance though if we are going to be staying in his second home…I know what I am like after some sangria and sunshine.

Had a bit of a stressful week this week, don’t know if that has been picked up in my blog posts but I have been feeling pretty angry about, well, anything if I am honest. One thing after the after just seems to be causing me grief and I am fed up of it. Didn’t help that when I got home last night I came to a state of chaos in the flat. My other half had dumped what looked like a mountain of men’s clothes in our hallway. Wading through the sea of tweed jackets, skinny jeans and winter scarves I found myself asking what he was planning on doing with all these extra clothes. ‘Keep them,’ was the obvious answer, and ‘Put them in the wardrobe’ was the next. So I kept my mouth shut and nodded, wondering how long it would be before he realised we would need some much bigger storage solutions for that to ever work.

Steve Jobs, Could You Help Me Design Some Exhibition Stands?

Not feeling hugely creative today, which is why I have been feeling slightly worried that my friend wants me to help them design their exhibition stands this month. I hate when I feel lost for words-it rarely happens but when it does I really do struggle. There is nothing worse than being greeted with an empty silence when you are trying to place some ideas together. Some days are better than others though and sometimes you need to look hard to find some inspiration.

My inspiration today is Apple; they have just launched the new iPad, which has sent geeks across the country into shivers of excitement. I just love the design of Apple products; all of their products look modern, sleek and minimal. I love the curved edges and smooth surfaces and think that my friend’s exhibition stands should have the same qualities. I love Apple products personally, I even love the packaging that my MacBook came in-is that sad? Possibly, but not enough for me to stop the love.

Motorhomes Make Me Think Of Johnny Depp…

I have been talking about my favourite films today with my colleagues and we got talking about motorhomes which reminded me of probably one of the best films ever-What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? If you haven’t seen it you really should. Although I wouldn’t describe it as a particularly cheerful film, it is about human nature and how we treat one another. It’s very emotional and I challenge even the toughest not to shed a small tear. Nothing really beats a good film in my opinion, well part from an incredible book. People moan and say that films ruin books but I don’t think that is necessarily true. Sometimes I think films bring a new lease of life to some books.

Clearing Up The Mess Left By The Party Products

It’s amazing how much I used to go out and party when I was at university, always had the get up and go. These days-it’s not so much! Feel completely worn out from the weekend and have been clearing my flat of party products since my friends have been over. I love socialising but do not enjoy the clearing up of the mess afterwards. I have found the odd pine needle lurking around from the Christmas tree still- which is pretty impressive because I have hovered about a MILLION times since then. I think that those pine needles will probably still be there till next year, actually growing from the carpet. Definitely think I am going to suggest the party is at someone else’s next time instead of ours so they can pick up the never-ending sea of wine glasses and party poppers. Yes, I know party poppers-seems your never too old for any party products like those.
